Today we dive into “Marketing Simplified" a segment that simplifies complex marketing jargon and concepts
Do you remember the last time someone said thank you to you?
After that, you may have felt the obligation to say thanks back and acknowledge their gratitude as well.
This feeling is what we call reciprocity.
People feel obliged to give back to others because of a gift they’ve received first. It’s a mechanism that’s built into humans to make sure we stay human.
It’s one of the FOUR most POWERFUL PRINCIPLES of MARKETING:
1. Principle of Reciprocity
2. Principle of Authority
3. Principle of Consistency
4. The Power of Free
By chance, someone I’d met years ago that was already saving other entrepreneurs years of struggle figuring all that out.
He works with the largest names in our industry.
I looked to him as a networking master.
And he looked to me as an inspired entrepreneur who wanted a hand up.
Quickly, If you’ve ever had a mentor or coach? Someone to look up to — do a little namedropping here in the comments :) This isn’t a time to drop links just let us know who it is! or what really made a difference.
Over the next couple years, Joe consistently took the time to help me and dozens of other business owners, glide past many pitfalls of effective marketing and bridge the gap between on and offline.
I always offered to volunteer my time, I’d gladly have paid for the information, basically anything to show my appreciation for his effort.
He replied something like: “This is what I do. I’m just a regular guy like you and helping entrepreneurs. I don’t need any other thanks.”
I’m paraphrasing though people like Joe Kenemore are the reason successful entrepreneurs exist.
They’re willing to help because relationships, and acknowledging them, underlie everything we have. They’re in the industry for the right reasons.
The best thank-you we can give is doing the same for others.
And Remember this: When you make people feel loved and appreciated they have no reason to want to leave!
Alright, that’s it - I’m out of time. If you’ve received some valuable information from this email go and subscribe and share to a friend! It’s the biggest compliment!
